AutoMount USB Device (Automatically) in Plank
I like the idea of using Plank with Pinboard, however, it will not automatically mount my USB disk. My disk will be plugged in manually, then I will trigger Plank (using the plugin) to make it available to me. But I would like it to mount on its own.
This is not a conflict with the notion of having Plank automatically mount my USB flash drive (as it will not be plugged in at all times).
Is this possible?
Update: Since I posted the initial answer, Plank’s developer Mike Taylor has moved Plank to To use it, you will need to have wget and build-essential installed.
Previously, Plank does not support USB devices out of the box. However, the developer has integrated support for USB device handling into Plank. You can install the latest release using gdebi, or download the git repository and install from source.
Tested on Ubuntu 12.04 and 13.10.
Update 2: wgt already installed, but I don’t see any.deb’s available.
If you are running Ubuntu 12.04, you should be able to manually add any USB devices with this setup.
Install dconf-editor (software center, command line or apt-get install)
Navigate to org > plank > plugins > usb-device
Set the value for ‘enabled’ to true.
The device should now mount on plugin activation.
