Equipped with the right applications, a computer can be of great help in virtually any domain of activity. When it comes to designing and precision, no other tool is as accurate as a computer. Moreover, specialized applications such as AutoCAD give you the possibility to design nearly anything ranging from art, to complex mechanical parts or even buildings.
Suitable for business environments and experienced users
After a decent amount of time spent installing the application on your system, you are ready to fire it up. Thanks to the office suite like interface, all of its features are cleverly organized in categories. At a first look, it looks easy enough to use, but the abundance of features it comes equipped with leaves room for second thoughts.
Create 2D and 3D objects
You can make use of basic geometrical shapes to define your objects, as well as draw custom ones. Needless to say that you can take advantage of a multitude of tools that aim to enhance precision. A grid can be enabled so that you can easily snap elements, as well as adding anchor points to fully customize shapes.
With a little imagination and patience on your behalf, nearly anything can be achieved. Available tools allow you to create 3D objects from scratch and have them fully enhanced with high-quality textures. A powerful navigation pane is put at your disposal so that you can carefully position the camera to get a clearer view of the area of interest.
Various export possibilities
Similar to a modern web browser, each project is displayed in its own tab. This comes in handy, especially for comparison views. Moreover, layouts and layers also play important roles, as it makes objects handling a little easier.
Sine the application is not the easiest to carry around, requiring a slightly sophisticated machine to properly run, there are several export options put at your disposal so that the projects itself can be moved around.
Aside from the application specific format, you can save as an image file of multiple types, PDF, FBX and a few more. Additionally, it can be sent via email, directly printed out on a sheet of paper, or even sent to a 3D printing service, if available.
To end with
All in all, AutoCAD remains one of the top applications used by professionals to achieve great precision with projects of nearly any type. It encourages usage with incredible offers for student licenses so you get acquainted with its abundance of features early on. A lot can be said about what it can and can't do, but the true surprise lies in discovering it step-by-step.

One of the most popular mobile apps is AutoCAD for iPad, which is owned by Autodesk and produced by Autodesk Labs, a division of Autodesk. In addition to developing mobile apps, Autodesk has developed AutoCAD 360, which is available for the iPad, iPad 2, iPhone, and iPod Touch. Autodesk is not the only company that has developed AutoCAD apps for mobile devices. Users can also download other CAD and drafting software apps for mobile devices.
The market for mobile apps in general is growing, and the number of mobile apps for major companies continues to grow. In July 2011, the online search engine Google acquired Moo.do, an Android app development company. Moo.do was acquired by Google because of its Android-optimized HTML5 technologies that enabled the development of powerful Android apps without the need to develop them in Java.
With its acquisition of Moo.do, Google has demonstrated the power of HTML5 for creating powerful applications and services. The ability to develop powerful applications and services using HTML5 is an important development. HTML5 is a web-based markup language that was developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). HTML5 is a more powerful version of HTML 4.01, the markup language originally developed in 1994. HTML5 was released as a draft standard by the W3C in February 2009, and it was developed in response to the need for a more modern, HTML-based approach to the development of websites and web-based applications. HTML5 enables developers to build applications with greater functionality and performance by using programming constructs and features that were not available before.

A host of file formats are supported, including:
DWG and DXF
User may create custom formats such as CEP, CRD, CTE, CVI, EDS, HDR, PCD, SQC, XCR, etc. AutoCAD supports generic formats, such as SVG, DXF, RTF, and WMF. Generically formatted files can be saved to application-specific directories (e.g., \AutoCAD\Temp) using the AutoCAD Save As function.
AutoCAD supports a broad set of drawing features, from simple line and polyline drawing to solid and surface drawing.
Paint and line features include:
The following table compares the different editing systems in AutoCAD.
Since AutoCAD is a highly complex product, it is usually difficult for a user to completely understand the product. AutoCAD includes various tools to help users, such as change control, whereby a user is prompted to save his/her changes, or request a confirmation of any changes, before the user can make them permanent.
To save, AutoCAD uses a feature known as change control, where a user must first make a change before he/she is allowed to save it. Using the change control feature, the user may choose to save the changes before or after making them.
After a change is made, it can be undone using the Undo command, which takes back the last change. Redo is used to redo the change. In the case of multiple changes, the user can Undo/Redo the last change, the most recent change, or a change in the last 10 minutes. Undo is very useful, as it is very easy to take back the last change or most recent change to undo a mistake.
When AutoCAD saves a drawing, it saves the drawing as a DWG file, and stores the DWG file in a temporary directory (\Autodesk\Temp). If the user chooses to save before making changes, AutoCAD stores the temporary file in the \Autodesk\Temp\AutoCAD\Temp subdirectory. The user may later choose to save a drawing in the \AutoCAD\Drawings\Drawings subdirectory.

Artists to Pop Out of the Closets: What Do You See?
When it comes to the development of a visual sense, there’s something that’s hardwired in every one of us – and that’s creativity. But why do some people see images, and others don’t?
Most people agree that the early years of development involve more imagination and play than anything else. So an image-processing area of the brain in the cortex is called the primary visual cortex. So why can people with this area of the brain, but not other people, see images?
A laboratory at the University of California at San Francisco, called the Sperry Clinic, is trying to figure it out by studying patients with brain damage. From their work, scientists now know that another part of the brain called the fusiform gyrus, is responsible for image recognition. That’s why some people with damage to this part of the brain may not be able to recognize faces or read pictures.
Doctors have used these tests to help patients like Peggy. She was diagnosed with prosopagnosia, a rare neurological disorder that affects the ability to recognize faces.
In the video below, Peggy responds to drawings of faces. She’s able to recognize parts of her own face. But she doesn’t seem to know that someone else is the artist.
The fusiform gyrus is a hub of activity where signals from the other parts of the brain arrive. So it’s become a bit of a Rorschach test, measuring how much of the brain we are born with. It’s a major pathway to the areas of the brain that process emotions.
And there’s more than one path to creativity. In this video, patients are asked to draw or paint a cat.
Stanley Coren studies creativity and is a professor of psychology at the University of British Columbia.
He says that the fusiform gyrus is only one of many pathways to creativity. And he says there are two types of people who can’t recognize faces.
“We have one group who can’t recognize faces but can recognize other things. They can recognize a painted cat, for example, even though they can’t recognize a person’s face,” says Coren.
The second group can recognize faces, but they have no interest in art.
For most people, the fusiform g
